This affects you as a LinkedIn user: from what I can see, you cannot get a copy the content that you post here (without manually saving every single post). This is unlike nearly every other social media site (even the single letter one).
Recently, I tried to extract my own posts using the LinkedIn API, and discovered that they'd changed their policy so that you can Post using it, but you can't read back your Posts without paying. Today, I thought I'd have a look at their 'standard' data export to see if that could be automated, but discovered that these downloads do not contain your own Posts.
On asking their AI agent, it gave me this:
"LinkedIn's standard data export feature does not include a direct option to download a copy of every post you have made. The available data export mainly covers profile information, connections, messages, and other account data but excludes posts.
Regarding GDPR rights, LinkedIn provides access to your data through the export tool in your settings, but posts specifically are not included in the downloadable archive. The LinkedIn API also does not offer read access to user posts, which limits automated retrieval of this data.
If you need a copy of your posts for GDPR purposes, you may need to manually save your posts or use LinkedIn's interface to view and copy them. Unfortunately, there is no automated feature currently available to download all posts in bulk. "
This is true enshittification (h/t Cory Doctorow) and I can't believe it's not more widely known (I certainly missed it!).
I've already built a tool that I use to post to LinkedIn, but making a copy of my content before it posts it here.
